ChairmanDepartment of Chemistry
Welcome to the Department of Chemistry at Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST).
Chemistry is a vital, expanding hub of scientific inquiry and to contribute maintaining friendly environment to live in all over of the world. Department of Chemistry provides the opportunity for a student to obtain a thorough fundamental knowledge in all fields of Chemistry. Graduates have opportunities to a wide field of natural sciences as well as in different public, private sectors. Department of Chemistry is a window into this dynamic and exciting branch of the natural sciences in a University. The main focusing areas are fine and heavy chemical manufacturing, food and beverage production, mining and metallurgy, petroleum, pharmaceuticals and drugs, plastics, pulp and paper industries. Chemists are also hired by government agencies in the areas of education, forensic, investigation, mineral analysis, public health, research and development support for resource industries, technical and analysis information development, waste management and waste and air quality management.
Considering the need of Chemistry, our Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Al- Nakib Chowdhury has established the Department of Chemistry on 5 June 2015 at Pabna University of Science and Technology. In the academic session 2015-2016, B.Sc. (Honours) degree has started with 41 students (20 male and 21female), two teachers and one section officer.
To make a good collaboration with the latest research fields of modern world like Nano Technology, Polymer Science, Optoelectronics, Liquid Crystal, Environmental Science, Biomedical Science and Pharmaceutical Science, we are trying our best to keep the syllabi updated by designing sufficient lab oriented programs along with the theoretical courses, final year project presentations, semester-wise continuous assessment and also viva-voce. Our ambition is to provide quality education and to produce global standard chemist to make responsible citizens who will contribute not only to the country but to the world as well.
